THE WORLD LISTENING PROJECT

THE WORLD LISTENING PROJECT (WLP) is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization devoted to understanding the world and its natural environment, societies and cultures through the practices of listening and field recording.

The WLP was founded in 2008 and is supported by the Midwest Society for Acoustic Ecology, a membership organization and regional chapter of the American Society for Acoustic Ecology, affiliated with the World Forum for Acoustic Ecology.

The WLP maintains a website and online forum about its artistic and educational activities. These include the use of radio and web-based technologies, conducting public workshops, forums, and lectures, as well as participating in exhibitions, symposiums, and festivals. Green Field Recordings Releases 2015 World Listening Day

Thanks to the many participating phonographers and sound artists around the world, Green Field Recordings released its fifth online collection of recordings dedicated to the 2015 World Listening Day on the theme “Water.”

Balance-Unbalance 2016 Call for Participation

BunB2015data-scienceThe 5th edition of the Balance-Unbalance (BunB 2016) conference will be held from May 9 to 11 of 2016 in Manizales, Colombia.

BunB 2016 is an International Conference designed to use art as a catalyst to explore intersections between NATURE, SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY and SOCIETY as we move into an era of both unprecedented ecological threats and transdisciplinary possibilities. The theme for BunB 2016 is “Data Science + Eco Action”.

BunB 2016 is seeking for papers, transdisciplinary workshops, artistic activities and exhibitions, posters and panels considering to propose, analyze and discuss specific projects and actions that could help us to face the serious environmental crisis. BunB 2016 is also open to host a diversity of virtual components allowing global accessibility and significantly reducing the carbon footprint of a major international conference.

Deadline for submissions: October 10, 2015 (midnight, Colombia’s time)
Notification of acceptance: November 30, 2015
