13:45 UTC-4 Alvaro Diaz-Rodriguez An afternoon at the Refugee Migrant Camp in Tijuana (6:10 min)

This sound recreates an afternoon inside the migrant refugee camp in Tijuana, where more than 500 South American refugee migrants have founded a small city a few meters from the border with the United States; waiting day by day for the border to open for them.

The recordings are a sound intervention of sounds that I have compiled for more than a year, from the refugee camp. In them you can hear the sound of children playing, the sale of food, migrants receiving American clothes and toys; creating a polyphony of sounds full of hope, sadness and reality.

14:00-14:30 UTC-4 Akari Komura Swimming Under Water In Our Bodies (Sheltering in Epidermis)

The piece originates from contemplating the term, “epidermal thinking”. It essentially implies digitization of human body parts for a purpose of surveillance information. This concerns the ontological insecurity and epistemologies regarding the imposition of race on the body and poses a question: what does it mean to genuinely be in possession of safety.

This work focuses attention on comparing the feeling of safety and the reality of safety through a perspective of the epidermis, our human skin, as an anatomical feature that divides our internal and external spheres. The element of water plays an important role in the work to symbolize the duality in the feeling of safety and reality of safety for it being an external survival resource as well as an internal flow of life contained within our bodies.

14:45 UTC-4 Sarmen Almond / Nikolai Galen Connected worlds- Raining Spiderlings (8:12 min)

The listening of two of 20 tracks that have been composed. One of them has text and the other is built by the human sound: the voice. Raining Spiderlings propose the sharing of two tracks inspired in nature and cultural differences. One artist resides in CDMX and the other in Istanbul. Both found this project as a way to connect different sounds, environments and imaginary worlds.

Listening with headphones will be recommended.

15:00 UTC-4 Daniel Alquizaleth Les Livres Maudits ( 9 min aprox)

Vozes: Ana Iramain, Ana Rosa Ibañez, (Antonio Machado Ruiz), (Carlos Gardel), (Chavela Vargas), Diana Fonseca, Familia de Ana, Genesis Victoria, Giovanna Monteiro, (Gloria Anzaldúa), Guido Wertheimer, Gustavo Obligado, Lara Alarcón, Laura Mello, (Luiz Gonzaga), Manuel Lima, Manuela Garcia Aldana, Mariá Portugal, Mariana Carvalho, Mauro Zanolli, (Mercedes Sosa), Miguel Buenrostro, Miguel Caldas, (Milton Nascimento), Nico Daleman, Nicolás Dardano, Nico Rosenberg, Nicolás Teubal, (Tadeusz Kantor), Vanessa de Michelis, Ximena Alarcón.

15:30 UTC-4 Alejandro Brianza Kowloon ( 5:52 min)

15:45 UTC-4 Marco Valdivia – Asimtria Qosqomantam uyariymi (15 min)

16:00-17:00 UTC-4 Heather Spence Listening Across Ocean Memories

We will begin with a deep listening session to ‘tune in’ to our personal soundscapes, and then explore ocean soundscapes, and music created with ocean soundscapes. These sounds are echoes of soundscapes of the past, that help us to anticipate and prepare for the future. We will end with imaginings of future soundscapes.

17:00-18:00 UTC-4 Zach Poff Fast Slow Radio (Cyberforest Nagano)

Fast Slow Radio (Cyberforest Nagano) is an experiment in time-lapse listening. It began as a 24 hour recording of a live-stream from the Cyberforest program at the University of Tokyo. I recorded their stream from Shiga Nature Education Garden and processed it with custom software to shrink the day-long recording into a 30 minute experience.

Fast Slow Radio is part of my ongoing effort to create a listening practice that de-centers my human perspective and seeks out other ears. When long recordings are time-compressed, stillness becomes animated, like the hidden movement of plants revealed by a time-lapse film. By speeding things up, I can uncover the slow patterns that normally exceed my attention span: The slow doppler shift of passing planes become distinct arpeggios. Human activity gives way to nocturnal animals, and then to morning birds in a few minutes instead of hours.

19:00 UTC-4 Claude Schryer e99 winter diary revisted

Homage to R. Murray Schafer.
Winter soundscapes cross many artistic boundaries and sound types : snow, ice, slush, etc. This homage to the father of acoustic ecology also crosses the boundaries of hot and cold, fast and slow, dense and thin, etc. In the context of climate change, it is a reflection in listening in the cold and how this soundscape is changing…
